Tuesday Tips for Parents /Guardians and Grandparents

September 9, 2025

Good evening all.

September is a month that is associated with back to school/starting college. There is something about the change of seasons that makes us want to settle into something satisfying like learning or studying something new or more deeply. The Trinity Access Program (TAP) have rolled out a series of talks which will give an overview of PLCs (post-Leaving Cert courses) that can be used as pathways to degree courses, as well as apprenticeships and training. They will discuss the TAP Foundation Course for Young Adults and how students can apply. There will be information on sources of funding such as SUSI grants and the HEAR scheme. They will be available for Q&A and follow-up questions. With this in mind I would like to invite any parent/guardian or gandparent to attend one of these sessions. If you did not get the opportunity to go to third level education and would like to see your daughter going to college then this talk might be of interest to you. The talk is for 6th year parents and children but the sooner you start talking to your child about college the better, so that you can start finding the information from TY onwards. These evenings are informatiive and will help you and your daughter  plan their  route to into college. Please text Oona at 0861857703 for more information. There will be a talk in the Ilac Centre Library, City Centre on Monday 13th of October 6.30pm -7.30pm.

Eibhinn will be back to lead the Yoga class from Tuesday  23rd of September .The class is free of charge  to our parents/guardians/grandparents. It runs from 9.30am to 10.30am and proved very popular last year. Register your interest here.

We warmly welcome parents/guardians/grandparents new to Mercy Beaamont and we would be delighted with your input or if you would like to be a silent observer that is good too. At 7.30pm, straight afterwards Monica Rowe will be giving a talk on Adolescent Anxiety. She will have plenty of advice and tips to help you and your teen navigate transition to your new school.
