We are writing to inform you of an important change regarding the Junior Cycle State Examinations.
Junior Cycle Examination Fees – 2026
Starting in 2026, the State Examination Commission will reinstate examination fees for the Junior Cycle at a cost of €109 per student. These fees, which have been waived in recent years as part of cost-of-living relief measures, will apply to all students sitting the 2026 Junior Cycle examinations.
Important Information:
Fee Amount: €109 per student
When it applies: 2026 Junior Cycle examinations only
Exemptions: Students holding a full medical card (or covered under a parent/guardian’s full medical card) are exempt from this fee
Please note that this €109 fee is specifically for the official State Examinations. Any mock examination fees charged by the school are separate and must be paid.
Further details regarding payment procedures and deadlines will be provided closer to the examination period.
