Good evening all. I hope you are all safe and warm this evening! News of parenting focused talks and seminars first. But before that, just a reminder that The Parents Network are meeting tomorrow evening in the library, at 7pm. All parents and guardians are welcome to come along. To have you there, lifts our purpose. Parents can volunteer to help in any way that fits in with their field of interest or within the limit of their time constraints.
Talk to your Child/Teenager about Vaping -Get the Facts’
With the growing awareness around vaping and young people the HSE will be presenting a webinar online looking at all the topics to do with this very current trend among young people. It is necessary to equip ourselves and our young people with the proper information on vaping
It will take place on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026 from 7.00pm — 7.45pm.
The webinar topics include:
Young Carers
We all know families or indeed it may be are own family, were caring for a vulnerable child/elder person can be spread throughout the family. In the 2022 Census, 4800 young people under age 15 were self-identified as being Young Carers, research by Family Carers Ireland however estimated in 2020 that the number is over 66,000 young people, and the conference project team believe this figure is underestimated.
Young Carers are deemed as young people under the age of 18
Young adult Carers are aged 18-24
The National Young Carers conference will be taking place in the OReilly Hall, UCD on March 7th 2026 at 11am to 4pm. If you are a young carer you are invited along to participate in the event along with your family and community support . The organisers advise us that a light lunch will be offered at the conference, and that there will be a goody bag for every young person and a free raffle for young carers. The organisers are hoping to be able to provide free transportation to the event nationwide- details will follow on their website and to those who have registered. A flyer advertising the event is attached to this email along with and information sheet in relation to young carers. Tickets are limited and you can book via Eventbrite HERE .
