Tuesday Tips for Parents/Guardians and Grandparents

April 21, 2026

Good evening all.

We have some advice for parents of students sitting exams this summer, this evening. The advice comes in the form of webinars, easily accessible on your phone. It is a HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast entitled ‘Exam Calm for Parents’. The podcast features Dr Jean Sorohan, Senior Clinical Psychologist, who explores how parents and carers can support young people during exam season. The episode offers practical advice on staying calm, easing pressure, building healthy routines and encouraging positive coping strategies. It also highlights the importance of recognising individual needs, including neurodivergent experiences, and reminds listeners that exams are only one part of a young person’s journey. Please click here to access the podcast.

The ISPCC are offering a FREE online webinar series for parents/ carers and young people around exam time and dealing with anxiety. On the night Bree O’ Neill, National Childline Digital Coordinator with the ISPCC will focus on:

Healthy Ireland Survey

Healthy Ireland is the national framework for action to improve the health and wellbeing of everyone living in Ireland. They are launching an online public consultation to listen to your views, experiences and ideas. Your input will directly inform the next phase of how Healthy Ireland is developed. The survey can be filled in by individuals or groups, they are especially keen to hear from people whose voices are not always heard, including minority and disadvantaged communities. Improving health equity will be central to the new framework. The estimated time to complete the survey is 10 minutes and submissions for this online consultation will close on 22 April 2026. The views and opinions collected will be considered and will be used to inform future policy. You can access the survey HERE.
