Tuesday Tips for Parents/Guardians and Grandparents

April 28, 2026

Good evening all. I hope everyone has had an opportunity to enjoy the lovely weather recently! The weather was a  terrific backdrop to all the festivities last Friday, for Cultural Day and Friendship week. The students danced until they nearly dropped as the audience clapped and cheered along. We witnessed a number of vivid costume changes throughout the show.  Professor Turner from DCU gave an inspiring speech!. And Ms Offiah was a very gracious host. At break time the audience – student and parent/guardians and tiny siblings formed a queue to sample the huge variety of foods provided by brave voluntary chefs. We had food noodles from Vietnam and Bangladeshi, bhagis and samosas  from  India, we had puff puff from Nigeria, tortilla from Spain and Costa Rica. Italian caprese salad! We had dessert too all manner of cakes from bananna bread, to semolina pudding to sponge cake and cannoli. Everyone ate their fill and finished the show in the hall. The morning was a great success and a beautiful occasion for our community to celebrate all the nations represented in our school. Thank you so much to all of the parents who took the trouble to come on the day. Some of the parents dressed in national dress which added to the colour. A huge thanks to all those who put together the ingredients and cooked dishes after a long days at work. This really added to the enjoyment of the  occasion, bringing people together. With the  raise in the cost of living currently, we appreciate every contribution families make.
