Mercy Day 2025

September 24, 2025

Dear Our Lady of Mercy College Community,
Today we celebrate Mercy Day as part of our Mercy Week 2025 (September 22-27), commemorating Catherine McAuley’s opening of the first House of Mercy on Baggot Street in 1827.
Throughout the week, our Ember Leaders (5th Year students) are visiting all 1st Year classes to share our school history and Mercy & CEIST values, including guided walks to the convent. They’re also hosting a special film with treats for 1st Years in the Demo Room at lunchtime on Thursday.
The Oratory will be open every morning and lunchtime for anyone wishing to spend time in silence and prayer. All are welcome.
As we honour Catherine McAuley’s legacy of compassion, service, and education, let us reflect on how we can embody these Mercy values in our daily lives.
Special thanks to Mr. Michael Jenkins and the Ember team for organising these meaningful celebrations. Catherine McAuley’s vision of mercy in action – caring for the poor, sick, and uneducated – remains at the heart of our school community. Her courage, determination, and unwavering commitment to those in need continue to guide us as we strive to embody the Mercy values of compassion, justice, service, and respect in our daily lives.

As we gather to commemorate this significant day, let us reflect on how we can each contribute to carrying forward Catherine’s mission of mercy. Whether through acts of kindness, standing up for justice, serving our community, or showing respect for one another, we all have the opportunity to be instruments of mercy in our world.
We warmly invite you to join us for our special Mercy Day Mass today, which will be available to view from 10am onwards at: https://www.beaumontparish.ie/webcam/
May the spirit of Catherine McAuley continue to inspire and guide our Our Lady of Mercy College community as we work together to make mercy visible in our world.
