Tuesday Tips for Parent/Guardians and Grsndparents

November 4, 2025

Welcome back after the midterm break. The clocks are gone back and the mornings are getting darker and then so  it is a good time to talk about attendance. As mentioned here before the Government have launched their ANSEO campaign to raise awareness around the issues of school attendance. During’Lockdown’ the daily routine of  school became disrupted. People witnessed the softening  of the old norms and as a result the daily attendance rates at school took a hit particularily around 2022-23, world wide as well as here. Now our attendance figures here are steadily moving in the right direction. One of the best things a parent/guardian can do for their child is to get them into school everyday and on time. Their educational  and later on their career prospects greatly improve. Good mental, physical  and financial wellbeing are linked to a solid  education and having positive career options as a result. The department offer good advice through this link If you click on the second level section this leads to information on ways to help your school refusing/anxious child. I f you have any issues  getting your child to school, don’t be afraid to  talk to tyour child’s  yearhead, principal and deputy principal. As HSCL I am happy to help you  to make arrangments to meet up with staff on  this matter. Please call me at 0861857703 or if you would like to call to my room in school for a chat.

On that note- instead of running a workshop tomorrow in the parents club, I would like to invite parents/grandparent/guardians for a cuppa at 10am tomorrow morning(Wednesday). These events are never crowded but it is a nice chance to meet others , find a little more about the school and have a word in my hear if you like. It will be in room 34. I would love to see some first year parents too
