Tuesdays Tips on a Thursday
November traditionally marks the month were we remember our deceased, collectively. Mr Jenkins class is marking this by hosting a service for anyone who lost a family member in the last year. As part of the Pope John Paul II Award our TYs are organising a remembrance service to take place on Wednesday 13th November during the 12.05 lesson.
I would also like to inform you of an event taking place next Thursday (October 24th 7pm-9pm): Living with Loss: A Bereavement Information Evening for the Public. This is a FREE event hosted by the Dublin North Bereavement Network. It is taking place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Blanchardstown. For those unable to attend the event in person, this event will be live streamed via Zoom.
Whether you are attending in person or online, please book your place via the following linkThe ISPCC are offering free Digital Mental Health & Wellbeing programmes for young people and their parents who are experiencing low to moderate anxiety. Two additional programmes are available for parents/guardians who wish to support children and young people experiencing low to moderate anxiety. The first programme is entitled ‘Supporting an Anxious Child,’ and it is designed for a parent/guardian looking to support their 11-year-old child. The second programme ‘Supporting an Anxious Teen’ is for parents/guardians of 12–18-year-old teenagers. These programmes are also based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). They incorporate mindfulness practices and are specifically designed to assist in managing anxiety. Individuals can access all the modules online whenever they wish and participants will have a supporter assigned from ISPCC’s Childline services team, who will link in with them regularly to support them in completing the programme. These courses may be of interest to parents who wish to work through such challenges with their child over the summer months. Information leaflets for parents are also attached to this email. The programmes are financially supported by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention, as part of Connecting for Life, Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce Suicide.
And finally the PArents Association Annual General Meeting will be on Wednesday 6th of November at 7pm . We are hoping to a have a guest speaker on the evening too. All parents are encouraged to come along.
