Tuesday Tips for Parents/Guardians and Grandparents
October 22, 2024
We have nearly made it through the first busy school term and are anticipating with the midterm break with joy!. Thank you to all those parents who participated in the classes and various meetings over the term. Next term promises a lot more!
Before I go into that, I would again like to ask parents that if there is a spare school jacket at home, there are students in school who would appreciate one especially as the winter approaches. There has been a great uptake of donated uniforms but the jackets are something we are always short on. Tracksuits(the grey one in larger sizes) would also be gratefully accepted.
Ms Grey put up a notice on the Parents Association Annual General on November 6th at 7pm. Valerie Hegarty from the Artane Coolock Family Resource Centre has kindly agreed to give a short talk on the work they do there before the AGM gets started. They run amongst other things a Rainbows program for primary school children and they also run PLAN (parent led autism network). So they are well placed in our community to offer advice and support to families in the area. A new Chair,Secretary and Treasurer are to be nominated on the night. If you enjoy participating or leading fundraising activities or indeed if you just like lending a hand, then this will be a good fit or you. All parents are welcomed on the night.
Our Yoga Class with Eibhinn will be continuing after midterm and we welcome new parents/guardians/ grandparents. I am acutely aware that many of you can’t make the day time activities but I would appreciate any feedback so that I can attempt to provide were the need provides. My number is 0861857703 call or text, it is up to you.
Olivia our art/craft will be returning with her class on Tuesday mornings- she will have an interesting new craft for you all and the class starts on November 4th at 9.30am. I would love to see some new faces, especially from our new parents. We are also hoping to put on a workshop during December in the build up to Christmas, so that parents can make their own decorative wreaths for Christmas. Carmel with run this workshop, but more of that later. By the way the way the fruits of her class can be seen in the home made apple cider vineagar above, with apples freshly picked. Thanks to Ann for letting me use her picture!
Friendship Week alongside our International Day Celebration will be running at the last week in November. Last year we had a great group of parents and suppporters. The parents made deilicous foods and encouraged the students to dress in traditional costume. This year we would ask once again for your support and also if a parent/guardian has any special interest in performance and stage direction/sound/lighting we would be delighted to have your advice. Just get in touch with me a the above quoted number!
Wishing everyone a restful midterm break.
