Tuesday Tips for Parents/Guardians and Grandparents

December 3, 2024

Good evening everyone. We have an eventful week planned for school. Not only is it Friendship Week but we also have Market Day tomorrow. It would be fabulous to see parents at both events if you can afford the time to attend. Market kicks off early and runs from 9.30am to about 12.30pm. The  first, second, TY and fifth  year business students have all sorts of delights for your delectation. From stationery to crafts and jewellry. You will also be able to be able to buy confectionary and beauty products amongst other things. There is nothing like the market to get that Festive feeling going. The parents association will be selling their raffle tickets in aid of the new gym  on the dayand we will have a special section for you parents to come sit and have a coffee.

On Friday as you all probably  know we have our Cultural Day Festival, presented by long standing organising  teacher Mrs. Offiah. Prof. Daire Keogh President of DCU will give a talk to the the audience followed by  delightful dancing from all over the world performed by our very talented students. There will be a short video of all the languages our student body speak .   Afterwards we are hoping to sample the different cuisines  cooked up by  our families in the school kitchen. It is normally a delightful event and we would love to see all our parents there. We will put aside some space for you parents so you can enjoy the event. By the way I have included translations of this weeks Tuesday tips in some of the languages spoken as the mother tongue of many of our students. Please find them attached below!

We are still gathering items for our Mercy Beaumont Christmas Food Appeal . We will be taking the last of your donations next Tuesday. A big thank to all the families that have contributed to the appeal so far. We are  no were near our target amounts yet , so please give a little it means a lot.

Our Yoga Class is still going strong and will be running next week too. Fingers crossed we can get it up and running in the new year too.

The Primary Care Child and Family Psychology Service has developed a comprehensive bibliotherapy resource for families, caregivers and young people. Bibliotherapy is the use of books for therapeutic purposes. The effectiveness of bibliotherapy is well established as an evidence-based tool for promoting positive emotional and psychological wellbeing. The resource is a compilation of book recommendations. It offers parents, caregivers, adolescents and children helpful resource suggestions to better understand and manage mild to moderate, psychological and emotional, stresses and difficulties. It is intended as a conversation starter and should be used to open up communication between caregivers and young people. The guide is organised by topic and audience (caregivers/ adolescents / children). Each book is accompanied by a brief description and a photograph of the book cover. The bibliotherapy is available on the HSE website HERE.  It can also be accessed and downloaded by scanning the QR code on the poster attached.
