We had an enjoyable morming making candles last Wednesday morning. We made the container candles and experimented with the moulded candles too.There will be a one off workshop tomorrow in candle making. It will be free and you will go home with some nice candles. Next Wednesday 15th is scheduled for our Wellbeing/Mindfulness Workshop for Parents/Guardians and Grandparents with Fiona Clarke from Mindheart. It is part of Wellbeing week and the students and teachers will be celebrating it with various activities. The Parents Network will be holding their first meeting of the new school year in the school library, Wednesday 15th of October at 7pm. Remember all parents/guardians are members of the association and you can come along too. This week is Kinship Care Week! Kinship Care Ireland works with and on behalf of families, to create a better understanding of kinship care and ensure that the specific needs of carers, children and young people are acknowledged and addressed. Currently 10,000-12,000 children in Ireland are living in the fulltime care of relatives and friends, Kinship Care Ireland are asking allies of kinship care to come together to spotlight and celebrate kinship care showing kinship families we know that their #KinshipCareCounts.
Aware will host a webinar on Wednesday the 8th of October (12-1pm), to mark 40 years of supporting people impacted by depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. Over four decades, societies understanding of what recovery actually means, has grown and expanded in mental health, incorporating ideas such as hope, meaning and empowerment. The webinar will bring together voices from clinical expertise and community support to reflect on what recovery looks like today, how it has changed, and what it can mean for the future. The discussion will be moderated by Aware’s Clinical Director, Dr Susan Brannick, and will feature expert panellists, Dr Pat Bracken, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Ciara Glynn, Educator & Lived Experience Expert.
